Fisheries in India is an integral economic activity and a flourishing sector with varied resources and potentials India ranks
second in the world in total fish production, annually about 9.06 million metric tonnes, out of which 1.69 lakh tonnes was produced in Telangana itself!
The Government of India launched National Fisheries Development Board in 2006 with its headquaters in Hyderabad. In Telangana
there are 19.04 lakh fishermen. Above 65 percent of fishermen hails from Warangal, Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda and Karimnagar districts.
